Arabians Ltd. Hosts Black Stallion Literacy Project

(PRWEB) October 4, 2007 -- Arabians Ltd. hosted 125 first grade students from community schools to experience the Black Stallion Literacy Project.

The Black Stallion Literacy Project utilizes the world-renowned black stallion books written by Walter Farley to foster a love of reading in children through a real life experience with horses. The event was held at the home of Arabians Ltd. in Waco, Texas where the kids came face to face with the farm's Arabians, the magnificent breed about which Farley wrote in his fabled stories.

The General Manager, Shawn Crews, welcomed the children and led them to different stations throughout the farm where they learned about feeding and caring for horses before being introduced to a young stallion name Bellagio RCA. The staff joined the children for lunch and played several horse inspired games and all were invited to read a page from "Young Black, The Pony."

The kids went home enthusiastic about reading and staff took pride in the fact that through a love of horses they were able to touch so many.

Farm owners, Jim and Judy Sirbasku are committed to developing leader through education and training. The Black Stallion Literacy Project has reached over 200,000 children since it began in 1999. The nonprofit program was a 2001 recipient of the Daily Point of Light Award from the Points of Light Foundation and has been featured on ABC World News Tonight.

Arabians Ltd, owned by Jim and Judy Sirbasku of Waco, Texas, is one of the world's preeminent breeding farms for straight Egyptian Arabian horses.
